Congratulations to Coach Wes Glon on being named coach of the year by the United States Fencing Coaches Association!! We are very proud to share with you that Coach Wes Glon was named 2014 Coach of the Year by the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association. As Maestro Edwin Hurst, Chair of the USFCA Awards Committee indicates, “the leadership and coaching skills Coach Glon displayed were vital to the recovery of the Penn State Men’s and Women’s fencing team from an especially trying situation, and their eventual triumph as NCAA Champions”. Furthermore, the President of the USFCA, Maestro Abdel Salem, had this to say about Coach Glon: “His outstanding technical expertise and superior leadership culminated in Penn State winning the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championship in 2014. In addition, he has contributed greatly to the development of fencing in the United States by serving as national team coach, internationally certified referee, and member of the US Fencing board of directors for many years. He is an excellent example to the members of his team, his assistant coaches, and all our member coaches. The USFCA would like to congratulate Coach Glon, the Penn State Varsity Fencing Team, and the entire Penn State Athletic support staff on this prestigious accomplishment.”
