Congratulations to Eagle Police Chief Steve Bartlett and Kuna - TopicsExpress

Congratulations to Eagle Police Chief Steve Bartlett and Kuna Police Chief Justin Dusseau for all their hard work this summer participating Northwest University’s Center For Public Safety School of Police and Command Staff. The program — 10 weeks of coursework featuring an intense mixture of academic work and problem-solving exercises — helps officers like Bartlett and Dusseau continue to develop and expand senior leadership skills. Bartlett and Dusseau joined 29 other law enforcement leaders from all over the U.S. — including Utah, Nevada, and New Mexico — to work out almost three-dozen different leadership scenarios during the course. Part of the program is to “leave a legacy” — a gesture to make the community of a class member a better place to live. To that end, the class raised $7,360 to help Nampa Police officer Nick Schlader, who was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma cancer and must travel to California for treatment. The class raised an additional $2,000 for another student who has a son fighting cancer. In addition to eight hours of classwork every day and homework at night, Bartlett and Dusseau also worked to keep up with what was happening in the Eagle and Kuna. To that end, they had to rely on their sergeants (Pat Calley and Alan Olsen in Eagle, Tommy Briggs and Carl Olson in Kuna) and the rest of their officers and staff to make sure everything ran smoothly this summer. It did. “Both our teams really stepped up for us … we are just so thankful,” Dusseau said.
