Congratulations to Girl Scouts from Uvalde for being featured in this weeks The Uvalde Leader-News! The girls received their faith awards on Sunday, March 16 at San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio. Nadia Gonzales and Rebekah Ramirez from Girl Scout Troop 4199 received the Marian Medal, which required more than 16 hours of coursework, volunteer time and a witness project and enables Girl Scout Cadettes to proclaim the greatness of the Lord, according to the Archdiocese of San Antonio. It features active involvement in understanding Mary as a model of openness and spirituality and a woman of the church. Carina Morales from Troop 3034 received the “I Live My Faith Award,” which helps Girl Scout Juniors emphasize the place of God and religion in daily life, learn self-development through relationships with family and friends, and find her place in the church and community. All three girls attend Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Uvalde.
