Congratulations to Harley on his Reiki I attunement!! This is Harley...my very latest Reiki I student :) Leo the cat has sneaked into the background in one of the pics =^,^= This past weekend during our Reiki I class, Pam, one of the students from Ohio, was telling me about her dog, Harley who is a certified pet therapy dog. Harley visits patients with Pam, his handler. Pam said that Harley Loves his work as a pet therapist, but that he is always totally wiped out from visiting with the patients...sometimes after only an hour of visitation. As you may already know, we are all born with some degree of healing ability, some more than others. When we use our own healing abilities we use our own energy and can become tired and also can take on the symptoms of those we treat. Having an attunement to Reiki enables us to channel Divine healing energy so that we are not using our own energy and therefore are not tired after giving a session. As Reiki practitioners, we do not pick up the symptoms of those we treat. This evening I sent Harley a Reiki I attunement to help boost his healing abilities and to help alleviate his symptoms of being overly tired after visiting with his patients. A big thank you to Pam for the writeup below about Harley ♥ Here is Harleys story. He is a rescue from our local Humane Society. He was dumped at our wonderful local humane society with a bad disease as a puppy. We fostered and eventually adopted him, as it was clear he would always need ongoing medical care and a special diet. He has always been kind and gentle, so it seemed natural that we should become a pet therapy team. We went through obedience training, then worked to become certified through Therapy Dogs Inc. The certification is for us as a team -- we always work together, that is, Harley cannot go with another handler, and I am not certified to take any other dog. We also are approved for pet therapy through our local hospital, and that involved additional volunteer training and apprenticeship. For the last couple of years we have been volunteering there and at the local libraries. At the hospital we visit both patients and staff. Harley seems to know just where he wants to go (though I carry him throughout the hospital) and he does have favorite places including the emergency department. At the library, we participate in a program called Dog Tales, where kids can read to the dogs. Its really fun for everyone! Harley is now six, and is still just as kind and gentle as always. We both welcome reiki love and light. Pam DeLay
