Congratulations to Katie Halstead on being accepted in the miss universe Australia Victorian preliminary heat for 2015! (April) Katie is preparing with WSSC and specifically with head performance coach Christian Woodford to develop herself physically to be in the best condition of her life! Katie program which is periodised (volume & intensity manipulated for a specific goal) and scientifically backed (combining real world application) to maximise her body composition (fat loss/lean muscle mass gain) and performance goals (strength, power, work capacity). Training needs to have a goal and the program must reflect this with the loading parameters and the mode of exercise chosen. The focus for Katie will be strength training to increase her lean muscle mass = metabolically active tissue = more lean mass = less fat (the more calories your body will burn to maintain muscle) and conditioning (implement) and specific speed work to facilitate a leaner and harder physique. (Completing speed work is not only great for development of speed but also great for increasing metabolic rate and accelerating fat loss). Girls, if you are looking for body composition change the goal should be increasing strength via smart programming and coaching Strength and slowing overloading the stimulus is the key to body composition and functional performance goals. Training to failure, choosing 100 exercises for 1 muscle group, no progression, no basic understanding of sport science principals (and how to apply them) while not completing the basics (getting stronger on the basic barbell primal patterns) will only lead to plateaus in training and individual not reaching their goals! Science and smart programming is the key to long term development and reaching goals. Go Katie! Contact WSSC now for a science based approach. Info@woodfordssc or PM. #wssc #changingthegame
