Congratulations to Officer Glass. We wish her well on her RETIREMENT and her future endeavors. THANK YOU Officer Glass for serving the City of Kent and its citizens for the last 25 years. Below is a letter that we asked Officer Glass to share with all of you.... I began my career at the Kent Police Department on May 9, 1989 as a young graduate from The University of Akron. I took police tests at Akron PD and Kent PD. I was fortunate enough to score well enough and made it through the intense process to be hired by KPD. I attended the Cleveland Heights Police Academy for 15 weeks with Det Travis where I made friendships that continue today. 25 years later, I continue to love my career. Im going to miss the people of this city, business owners Ive come to know, employees in the schools and in the city, my coworkers at the city and my brothers and sisters at KPD and KFD, and KSUPD but its time to move on to retired life. Im going to miss all of the opportunities Ive had to do the things I love in my career. I love to teach classes at RHS, being the CIT coordinator for KPD, one of the department photographers as well as numerous other positions Ive held throughout the years. The favorite part of my career is having the opportunity to help people every day. Throughout my career Ive watched numerous things change. We didnt have half of the equipment we now have to help us in our (some times) difficult job, we (women) shared a locker room with the men, we didnt have CIT(critical incident team which is a nationwide program) nor did we have training for emergencies that reaches the entire nation. Weve come a long way. Our city has also changed immensely. Its pretty awesome to see all of the thriving businesses downtown. And the number of patrons who frequent the businesses daily. I know my fellow brothers and sisters will continue to bring peace to this city and I have every faith they will protect the city Ive come to love. Now I move on to a new chapter in my life. I wish everyone well and thank you for the support youve given me and my fellow police family. Officer K. Glass #254
