Congratulations to Oxnard Police Department officers for their recognition today at the Ventura County CIT Awards Luncheon. Officers Terry Dobrosky and Mike Wood were nominated for CIT Officer of the Year and Assistant Chief Scott Whitney was recognized as one of the CIT Founders. The Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) is a 40 hour curriculum designed to train officers on how to better respond to crisis situations involving persons with a mental illness. The program is a collaborative effort among County Mental Health, local law enforcement, the National Alliance on Mental Illness and community advocates.
