Congratulations to Pascagoula High School science teacher Noel Lamey, winner of the 2014 Fred Brown Outstanding High School Teacher Award by the Mississippi Science Teachers’ Association! Noel will receive his award at the annual convention of the association Oct. 21, 2014 at the Marriott Hotel in Jackson. The Mississippi Science Teachers’ Association was founded in the fall of 1971. The organization is designed to assist science teachers as they strive to offer students the best opportunities available. The organization uses its annual convention to allow teachers to present ideas to fellow teachers and to glean information and ideas from each other to better equip themselves for their classroom. Teachers are nominated for the awards by peers, students, and parents, then must complete an application process, including letters of recommendation, an essay, and a resume. The application packets are reviewed by a panel of judges who make the selection for MSTA. Teachers are presented with an engraved plaque and a paid registration to the next MSTA convention.
