Congratulations to Phoneix United U9s another trophy for the cabinet....A match that had everything, it was tense we had the majority of the ball but lacked composure in front of goal. In the first half Phoneix United dominated possession and created several opportunities, however each attempt was saved by last minute tackles and a combination of poor finishing... At half time Lloyd gave the boys a motivational speech which included the offer of a treat, this meant that the boys were determined to showcase their talent. As time went on Phoneix United were making mistakes as the opposition grew in confidence and they started to creste a few chances however Cisse has the safest pair of hands this side of Birmingham and came up trumps each time... D Beast gave away a free kick with 9 minutes to go and the opposition put it just beyond the fingertips of Cisse....the crowd cheered and the score was Norton Lindsay 1 - Phoneix Utd 0, this stirred the neutral fans into singing Youll Never Walk Alone...the boys lifted by the crowd pushed forward.... With minutes to go a breakway down the right D Beast skips past two, slides in D Maria who looks up and puts in a delightful cross to Adaminho on the back post, he plucks the ball out the air and controls it with his chest and the calmly slots it in for 1-1...the crowd go wild with applause.. The referee blows the whistle and its Penalties...Phoneix lose the toss...Norton go first.... Cisse in goal faces up to the Norton Lindsay Penalty specialists, he dances on the line...1-0 to NL... Adaminho steps forward to face a hostile atmosphere, walks up and places the ball on the spot...he looks up and sees the goalkeeper moving off his line...with a calm run up he slots the penalty to the keepers left..no chance 1-1 Phoneix NL step up to take the second penalty, he shoots straight down the middle, however Cisse didnt move and produced a fantastic save....1-1 Di Maria steps up and places the ball on the spot, he runs up and fires the ball down the middle, NL goalkeeper pulls of a great stop the score is 1-1 NL step up for the 3rd spot kick, he runs up and slots the penalty to Cisse right hand side however the ball went wide..score 1-1 Bevrille steps up for Phoneix Utd and places the ball on the spot, he walks back and slots the ball to the keepers right high...unstoppable shot..2-1 to Phoneix NL step up and place the ball on the spot, Cisse makes himself big, stares into the eyes of the NL taker and dives to his left and saves the shot with a one handed save...world class save...2-1 to Phoneix Big Dave steps up for Phoneix Utd and places the ball on the spot, he measures his pace, runs up and slides the ball past the post..a miss...score 2-1 to Phoneix Last penalties for both sides the tension is felt all around the pitch, even the referee was shaking...trying to calm himself with a few gulps of fresh solihull air... NL step up and place the ball on the spot, he walks back and calmly strikes the ball, Cisse guesses right and dives to his left but is unable to keep the ball out such is the power of the shot...score 2-2 D Beast steps up in the theatre of dreams and walks calmly to the spot, places the ball and takes a few steps, with his size 6 boots he laces the ball to the right of the NL keeper...the net bulges n the roar of the fans cam be heard...from Solihull to Erdington.... A tough battle on a muddy pitch but the best team won. Well done Phoneix United U9s
