Congratulations to Toni Hosea, RN, as the first Recipient of the Daisy Award at the Birmingham VA Medical Center Toni was selected from over 50 DAISY nominations. These nominations came from Birmingham VA Medical Center Veterans., The Veteran that nominated Ms. Hosea explained that in late September 2014, his course of treatment reached an impasse that was significant enough to make him, for the first time, begin to give up . At that point,Toni stepped in. As an experienced member of the medical center’s IV team, Toni assured the Veteran that she would make the necessary repairs and fix the problem permanently. He described Toni’s soft tone and reassurance that that there was nothing to be worried about, which went a long way to restore his faith and put him at ease.
