Congratulations to a recent SHS graduate Roman Ruiz! He obtained his B.A. in Music Education from Arkansas Tech University; then, his Master in Music from Arizona State University. Roman is a very involved student, and a strong advocate for diversity and equity in higher education. He has volunteered across campus and within the community. Roman recently accepted the University of Pennsylvania’s offer of admission to pursue his PhD in Education, starting in the fall of 2014. He will work as a graduate research assistant with Dr. Laura W. Perna and aims to explore issues of college access, particularly how federal and state educational policies can improve college opportunity for low-income, racial/ethnic minority, and first-generation college students.
