Congratulations to all the Filipinos who represented our country - TopicsExpress

Congratulations to all the Filipinos who represented our country at the Hiphop International, World Championships in Las Vegas. A-team, you rocked the world!!! Romancion, this is just the beginning! And to the rest of the teams, much respect and admiration for all the hard work and sacrifices. It does not stop here. Here’s the update for our dear friends and supporters of Sayaw Kalsada. I am finally back on my desk. I thought I needed some break not only to catch up with my family whom I have “abandoned” for more than 6 months so I could concentrate on the job, but, also to give me sometime to refresh my eyes and clear my mind. It is so easy to get used to imperfections when you are so closed to the matter. I have learned this over time in different creative fields. I felt compelled to take that break. Two months have elapsed since I finished the 2nd rough cut, and now I can see more clearly the areas that need more work. I am glad I took that pause. The structure of the documentary is basically done. If I am going to assess how far we have gone, I say more than one half. Some of those who have seen it say 70%, some 80%. One thing I can assure you is that, whatever percentage we have reached, even at this point, the story line and images are already very compelling. And I assure everyone that I am doing everything to make it as unique and as strong as possible as I can make it. Even in my free time during my “holiday”, my mind was at work if I wasn’t studying and contemplating on cinematography, editing, the script, marketing and networking. As much as I tried to evade it, my mind was on it the whole time. I couldn’t help it. It’s too strong in me. I started working on this documentary in the mid 90s. Over the years, I have learned to be calm under all sort of pressure. But, lately, I am beginning to feel the pressure and excitement that the work is almost done! Or should I say, it is about to begin - finally. Pressure after pressure. Whew! If people can only see the amount of work, sacrifices, finances, difficulties and “persecution” I have gone through because of this, I will be easily labeled as one of those crazy fanatics! But, you know what, I am actually “crazy” about the subject and in sharing all these stories and vast experiences on what street dance means to Filipinos and how I witnessed it developed in the Philippines for the purpose of education and honoring those to whom honor is due. I am focused on finishing this film project and will not be hindered nor distracted until it is done, with the Lord’s help. I owe it to my fellow artists, dancers, supporters, our culture, our people, the others around the world who share equal passion and dedication, and most of all to God who allowed all these things to happen and entrusted me with so much responsibilities. At the end of the day, we are all an influence and have a story to tell. This is my take on the subject. This is the story how I saw the evolution of Filipino street dance, the influence of street dance to Filipino-blood worldwide and vice versa, the chaotic and contradicting world of dance, and what dance has personally done for me over the years. This is the story of Sayaw Kalsada (literally ‘street dance’), which the world is about to see soon. This is the story of you and me. Lordwilling, I intend to finish it before the year 2014 ends, but I still need some help. As some of you are aware, I was not able to raise enough fund (through the Indiegogo campaign) to cover all the expenses. We are not over the hills yet. There are still some areas that need special attention. Nevertheless, in any case, we are going forward. I will do what I can with whatever I have at my disposal while waiting for divine providence. I know HE will. This project is for HIM and because of HIM. Through this film the world will know how God has used this wonderful art called “dance” to “save” me and others, and tell these life-changing stories to everyone. To those who are gifted in music, I need help specifically in the area of film scoring. I need volunteer composers and song writers who would like to contribute a song or two in the documentary in exchange for film credits. This is a worthy project that will leave a lasting legacy not only to our own people but to the whole world as well. Please write me personally if you can help in any way. Thank you so much. I am arranging my trip back to Manila next week to continue the work. I can only stay and squeeze everything in 3 weeks. Those who can help, please do. May the Lord bless our efforts in bringing this project to completion. https://youtube/watch?v=HoSbLs3ol34
