Congratulations to everyone who selected b. Intravenous fluids and antibiotics within the first 4 hours as the most appropriate therapy for the patient described in yesterdays challenge. Although in the past early goal-directed therapy with central access and fluid administration resulted in improved outcomes in patients with sepsis, recent data is conflicting and suggests that it is the administration of early intravenous fluids and antibiotics that is critical to improved survival in sepsis.
