Congratulations to everyone who took the ALS challenge and raised - TopicsExpress

Congratulations to everyone who took the ALS challenge and raised awareness and money for an important cause. Inspired by my friend, Susie Berneis - I have a little idea. Lets call it My Mitzvah. Whenever something good happens to you, a goal accomplished, a prayer answered, a wish fulfilled - whatever. Consider honoring your success with a Mitzvah (act of good work) for your favorite charity. Ideally, you could choose a specific, local group that your small donation could really make a difference. I nominate Special Olympics Area 20 for your consideration. Special Olympics receives very limited (if any) funding and participants dont pay any fees to play. That way athletes who live in group homes or foster situations arent prevented from participating. Its a volunteer effort, funded in large part by families. The idea is to choose a cause meaningful to you. When you lose 5 pounds, or dont smoke for 5 weeks or land a new contract - whatever goodness happens to you - send a check for $10 bucks (or more) to help others. My Mitzvah, I believe the blessings will come back to you ten fold. Motivate yourself and help others, what could be better?
