Congratulations to our October Police Officers of the Month who will both be recognized at the next meeting of the Advisory Council: POLICE OFFICER OF THE MONTH October, 2014 P/O John Conway #1593 P/O Barbara Tiano #6832 On Thursday, October 23 Officers Conway and Tiano responded to a radio call of a male with a shotgun in the 8900 block of Alton Place. Per multiple witness statements, gunshots were heard and the suspect was seen standing over a male lying on the ground in the rear driveway firing shots at him while he lay there. The suspect then walked away while reloading his weapon and then shot at the victim’s house. He then returned to the victim lying on the ground and was seen kicking his head and firing additional shots at him. Upon Officers’ Conway and Tiano’s arrival, they found the victim holding his stomach. P/O Tiano went to the victim while P/O Conway, along with additional backup, was directed down the alley. They saw the offender with his hands up and ordered him to put down his weapon. He laid an AR15 shotgun against a fence. P/O Conway handcuffed the male. When asked what happened, the suspect responded “Yeah, I shot him.” A total of 26 shell casings and an empty magazine were found at the scene. The offender was arrested and charged with murder and a variety of felony and misdemeanor offenses. 7thpdac/police_officer_of_the_month
