Congratulations to our excellent Republican candidates who emerged victorious tonight: Robert Hilkemann, Bob Krist, Merv Riepe, Brett Lindstrom, and John S. McCollister for Legislature, Pat McPherson for State Board of Education, PJ Morgan and Mary Ann Borgeson for County Board, Tim Dunning for Sheriff, Howard Hawks for Board of Regents, John Friend for County Clerk of District Court, Phil Klein and Brad Ashby for Metro, Jeanne Anderson on the Learning Community, John Conley and Tim Fowler on the NRD, Rich Hurley on the OPPD, Dennis Wilkins, Stuart Dornan and Phil Wright for ESU, Tim Cavanaugh for MUD, Jerry Krause and Lee Fideline for Ralston City Council, Linda Lewis for Valley City Council, Jeremy Pojar for Waterloo City Council, Valerie Calderon, Matthew Wickham, and Mark Byars for Bennington School Board, Kelly Hinrichs for DC West School Board, Chuck Burney and Susan Zingler for Elkhorn School Board, Mike Kennedy, Pat Ricketts, and Dave Anderson for Millard School Board, Matt Scanlan for Omaha Public School Board, Dee Hugg and Deb Gerch for Ralston School Board. I also want to thank our other excellent candidates who took a risk and sacrificed so much of themselves to run for office this past year including: Lee Terry, John Sieler, Charles Garman, Wayne Hohndorf, Sam Clark, Stacy Ryan, Joni Craighead, Gwenn Aspen, Jim Trebbien, Jon Tucker, Joseph Charbonneau, Barbara Nichols, Jim Kusek, Bob Twiss, Mike McGowan, Don Kroupa, Matt S. Reinsch, and Marilyn Rickley. Tonight was a success for the DCRP and our candidates, but more important was the message ALL of our candidates took to the voters in Douglas County. A message of freedom, liberty and opportunity. A message of personal accountability and whats possible when the suffocating hand of big government is removed from our throats.
