Congratulations to the Amicale Club for your performance today - beating Ba, 2-1. The Vanuatu Parliament sits tomorrow for the first Ordinary Sitting for this year - 2014. In the weekends Daily Post (on-line edition) the Second Extraordinary Sitting of Vanuatus Parliament met earlier this month to talk about ..the Government’s agreement with Singapore-Based Vanuatu Trade Development Limited for airports development for Vanuatu including promissory notes from the Government for the company to do the work. But no promissory notes were approved as the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee on the Airport Concession Agreement was yet to complete its findings on the agreement so it can report to the House for members to consider before taking any vote on such sensitive matters as the promissory notes. Can someone clarify whether the discussion in the Second Extraordinary session of Parliament was all it needed to do even though part of the agreement, the promissory notes were not even sighted, even by the MPs? This is even more serious than given the assumption that our Government has read it and went ahead to agree to it! If this news coverage is true, then the Government side may not really know what the detail of the concession in the promissory note is about (except for a privileged few) but voted for it! I did not see it listed in the Bills to be tabled in this sitting.
