Congratulations to the Pelion Panther Marching Pride for being crowned SCBDA AA Lower State Band Champions this past Saturday in Charleston, SC!!! The Marching Pride, made up of students from Pelion Middle School and Pelion High School, will represent the Lower State AA Bands this Saturday for the State Championships at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC. Other qualifying bands from our area were Swansea (2nd), Saluda (3rd), and Strom Thurmond (4th). This is the 1st AA Band Championship and the first title for the band since its historic run in 93, 94, and 95 of three Class A Upper State Titles and Class A State Championship!! This is the 5th Straight Year the Marching Pride has qualified for the State Championships. The Marching Pride would like to thank the Band Booster Organization who has worked tirelessly this season to provide resources, love, and support for the band students!! We would also like to thank the Pelion Community for their unwavering support of the Pelion Bands!! The Pelion Panther Marching Pride are 18 Time State Marching Band Finalists and have received the South Carolina Band Director’s prestigious “Outstanding Performance Award” for Musical Excellence 8 Times. The Pelion Band Programs consistently receive Superior Ratings in the Marching Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band mediums. The Pelion Aureate Colorguard is the 3 time defending State AA indoor Champions and CWEA AAA Bronze Medalists and WGI Finalists. The Pelion Band programs have placed over 150 students in the Region 2 Honor Bands and South Carolina All State Bands over the last 10 years. The students of the Pelion Bands strive to instill good morals, respect, and responsibility by banding together as one to motivate others to become better musicians and share the joy of music. Their aim is to create leaders, friendships, and confidence while having fun, keeping focus, creating memories, and striving to never give up which will result in everlasting opportunities!!! Please Join the Marching Pride and all of the fine Class AA Bands of South Carolina as we celebrate a wonderful ending to a great season of music making!!!
