Congratulations to the Pilot Point Bearcats (Class 3A) and Winters Blizzards (2A) for being selected Army Strong Teams of the Week in Week Eight. The Bearcats dug out of a 21-0 first-quarter hole to take the lead, then stopped Van Alstyne’s would-be go-ahead two-point conversion with 9 seconds left to grab a hard-fought 49-48 win to remain unbeaten. Meanwhile, after going 4-16 in the previous two seasons, the Blizzards ran their 2014 record to 6-1 with a sensational 32-15 win over district rival Roscoe. Each week, TexasFootball and the U.S. Army join together to select one team from every classification in high school football that demonstrates the qualities exhibited within the Army. Those include leadership, commitment to excellence and a desire to make a difference as a member of a team. Each team is awarded the Army Strong Team of the Week by local officials from the U.S. Army at a school assembly or pep rally.
