Congratulations to the Purple Porch Co-op for this good news: We are very happy to announce that we have been awarded the USDA Local Food Promotion Program grant. We will use the $100,000 toward equipment and marketing - to continue growing the market for local food products - doing a better job of being a resource for lower income shoppers; and being a hub-type resource for our local restaurants using locally produced ingredients. We should note that this grant also includes some very generous in-kind donations of time and energy from several of our Member-Owners. And of course - a thank you to those that pitched in as volunteers to complete the application. This is a good day for our local producers, for Downtown South Bend and a validation of the hard work many have put into the Purple Porch Co-op over the last 6 years.
