Congratulations to the Windham County State’s Attorney’s Office on the announcement of the Community Rapid Assessments for Treatment Program (CRAFT). This rapid intervention community court style initiative will offer offenders with substance abuse issues in Windham County the opportunity to receive treatment and participate in alternative justice programs instead of immediately being entered into the criminal justice system. Furthermore, by utilizing a risk-need-response model approach that has been proven to reduce recidivism, CRAFT will make significant strides to enhance public safety, get those suffering from addiction the treatment they need, and save taxpayer money. I am extremely proud of Windham State’s Attorney Tracy Shriver and her team for their hard work on this program, as well as their commitment to addressing addiction in Vermont.
