Congratulations to the boys and girls track teams for their fine performances in this past Saturday’s Greene County Tiger Invitational. Hart County’s boys and girls took home the 2nd place team trophy behind winner Athens Christian. Medal winners for the girls were: 3rd place bronze medalist Kelin Leverett in the pole vault, Theresa Wheeler in the 100 meter dash, and Erika Rucker in the 800 meter run, 2nd place silver medalist Riquanza Stowers in the 100 meter dash, Theresa Wheeler in the 200 meter dash, and Hailey Budd in the 3200 meter run, and 1st place gold medal winner Audrey Honiotes in the 1600 meter run. Medal winners for the boys were: 3rd place bronze medalist Raques Daniel in the triple jump, Patrick Wheeler in the pole vault, Ty Robertson in the 110 meter hurdles, Keenan Dillon in the 100 meter dash, DJ Mayfield in the 800 meter run, tied for 2nd place silver medal Rogerick Goss in the high jump, 1st place gold medals went to Torace Sturgeon in both the shot put and discus. Also a special congratulations to Audrey Honiotes and Torace Sturgeon who met the National Silver Standard for their performance at the meet. Audrey improved her school record time winning the 1600 meter run at 5 minutes, 14.23 seconds, which is also a meet record, and Torace threw the shot put 51 feet, 11 inches. Hart County’s boys and girls will be competing in the Region 8AAA Track and Field Championships Monday and Thursday at East Jackson High School in Commerce. Monday’s field events are scheduled to start at 10 am and the preliminary running events at 1:00. Thursday’s finals are scheduled to start at 5:00 pm. Good luck Dogs!!!!
