Congratulations to this years winners of The Jane Street COMP3141 Software Design and Implementation Prize: 1st Robert Anderspn-Butterworth ($1000) 2nd Oliver Chang ($750) 3rd Joshua Geron ($500) Thank you to Jane Street in Hong Kong for sponsoring this Prize. They have asked to include this message: Congratulations on being the winners of the Jane Street COMP3141 Software Design and Implementation Prize! Jane Street is a quantitative proprietary trading firm with a focus on technology and collaborative problem solving. We are one of the worlds biggest industrial users of functional programming, specifically OCaml. The reason we use OCaml is because it boosts our productivity and reduces software risks. Trading is an intensely technological business. We trade a large variety of financial assets on most of the worlds major electronic exchanges. On our busiest days we trade over 200 million equity shares in the US alone. Because our trading systems have to handle a high volume of trades each second, software defects are a big concern for us and we rely heavily on OCaml and type systems to minimize software defects. We hope you enjoyed this course and gained some valuable knowledge on software system development. We wish you all the best with the rest of your studies! janestreet This Award will be presented at the CSE Prizes Reception early next year (date TBC).
