Congress will win 100 MLA, 15 MP seats in Telangana .... Ponnala/ -----------------Hyderabad, 20 Mar -: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president, Ponnala Lakshmaiah today exuded confidence that his party would win 100 MLA seats and 15 MP seats in Telangana State in the ensuing general elections. Participating in a Meet-The-Press program at Basheer Bagh Press Club organized by Telangana Union of Working Journalists of APUWJ here, Lakshmaiah said the Congress is strong in Telangana and would come to power. Stating that Congress was not averse to have truck with like-minded political parties, he said his party doors are wide open for alliances for the general elections in the Telangana region. Reacting to Telangana Rasthra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao ruling out an alliance with the Congress, he said they will have tie-up with like-minded parties. Lashing out at KCR for retracting on merger and alliance with Congress, Ponnala said the former was making harsh comments on Congress leadership for votes and seats. He also alleged that the TRS Chief was resorting to provoke people on Telangana sentiment. Blaming KCR for targeting the Congress just for political gain, Ponnala accused the TRS chief of raising the issue of Polavaram design change, employees distribution on nativity basis and others. KCR has failed to keep his promise of merging TRS with Congress for giving statehood to Telangana. However, it is up to him to decide on the alliance or merger. We are not bothered. The Congress is strong in the region as the Congress leadership with commitment divided the State, he said, adding that the Congress can get public support in the elections. On actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyans rhetoric and tirade against the Congress leadership, he said no political parties --- new or old --- will have any say on them. Let all political parties join hands. They can do nothing and hamper our interests in the elections. Though there is a possibility of Jana Sena joining hands with the Telugu Desam Party and BJP in the elections, there will be no negative impact on our partys prospects, he said. The TPCC chief called upon the people to involve themselves in the process of building Golden Telangana State. The Congress party is strong in Telangana region and will sure win the major chunk of seats of MLAs and MPs, he claimed. We will fight it alone if other political parties failed to join hands with us, Ponnala said. However, he stated that the political parties cannot misguide and confuse all the times.
