Congressman Neal Expresses His Thoughts Over US Soldier Trade SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Controversy continued Tuesday night surrounding the American soldier who was captured by the Taliban and released this past weekend with the Obama administration. Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers said he is a deserter and that the massive search for him by US and Afghan forces cost at least six American soldiers their lives. Lawmakers are speaking out about the deal to bring Bergdahl home. Congressman Richard Neal (D) was in Springfield tonight at the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Western Massachusetts Scholarship Ceremony. He told ABC 40 his opinion of the return. “I think clearly we’re all mindful of the idea that some members of the Taliban might find themselves back in business and nobody wants that to happen, but I think until all the facts come out, I think that we probably want to refrain from any quick judgment,” said Congressman Richard Neal (D) first district. Within his first two months in the war zone, Bergdahl walked away from his post looking for the Taliban. He left his weapon and body armor behind. A former Senior Defense official told ABC News that Bergdahl also left a note expressing disillusionment with the US Mission in Afghanistan and he thought he had a better way to deal with it.
