Conjunto NEWS 1. It has come to our attention that Benny Fonseca, formerly with Ruben de la Cruz, has joined Los Fantasmas del Valle and the new bass player. Also, the voice of accordionist, Rodney Rodriguez, has been added to lead. Good changes and congratulations. 2. Would like to congratulate Claro Communications from Corpus Christi, who owns KROB, KEDA and now 1700 am in Dallas. This group continues to promote and provide the audience with conjunto music. Hope they have lots of success in DFW as they have had in San Antonio and Corpus. 3. Lazaro Perez, from Lazaro Perez Y Su Conjunto, is a track coach. His team has been doing great in state competition meets. Congratulations, Coach Perez. 4. Israel Tornado Gamboa is now Tornado Y Los Vengadores, already making several presentations including a show for STCA in San Antonio scheduled for May 3, 2014 at the VFW 4700 along with San Antonios sensation, Santos Soza Y Sus Estrellas featuring Victor Tejeda on the accordion. 5. Arturo Balderrama has added his voice to Puro Conjunto Radio along with Polo Trejo and Lupe Saenz on STCAs online programming. More voices are scheduled to be included soon. Expect an announcement soon. 6. Margie Via Via Cardenas is the president of the Santos Soza Fan Club and also is San Antonios representative of the South Texas Conjunto Association which is expected to open a chapter in San Anto soon. 7. Chris Trevino, President and owner of Trevinos Tortilla Factory, Billings, Montana, and Pete Lopez, Mayor from TAFT, Texas have ominated pioneer musician June P. Garcia, for STCA 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented in July 13, 2014 at the 16th Annual Conjunto of the Year Awards, followed by a proclamation in City of Taft for a celebration of the this award.
