Connecticut Hall is the oldest surviving building on Yales campus, - TopicsExpress

Connecticut Hall is the oldest surviving building on Yales campus, and the oldest building in New Haven. It was built throughout the 1750s and completed in 1757. Originally called South Middle College, Connecticut Hall served as a dormitory in its earliest incarnation—housing the likes of Nathan Hale (Patriot), Eli Whitney (credited with the cotton gin), William Howard Taft (President of the United States and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court), and Noah Webster (of dictionary fame). Since then, Connecticut Hall has been renovated twice (though the facade and foundation remains original!). Today it is primarily home to seminar rooms and faculty offices. Check out these images of Connecticut Hall from the 1700s to today—including students sitting in the windows on a warm spring day (1862) and an interior shot of the renovation (1953).
