Connecting the dots: In 2010, the last midterm elections, many Democrats who were still elated from electing Barack Obama just two years earlier, decided that it was not necessary to participate in that election. This resulted in a lot of Republicans being elected, not only in Congress, but also in state houses across the nation, and local offices. Because of that the House of Representatives switched hands to Republicans who, under the leadership of Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), have since then obstructed everything in order to destroy the presidency of Barack Obama. They have done so on the backs of Americans with no regard for their fellow citizens, or our country. In the Senate, Republicans captured enough seats to be able to obstruct everything, under the leadership of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), even though they are in the minority, also with no regard for the well-being of their fellow human beings, or our country. Republicans in state houses across the nation, as well as local offices, also gained seats. This resulted in awful policies, like hundreds of bills restricting womens health care choices, discrimination against groups of people, restricting and suppressing the voting process, and many other things too numerous to mention. Even on local school boards, conservatives tried to change text books by rewriting history and denying science, reflecting their political agenda. So, if you think this years midterm elections on Tuesday, November 4th, are not important, think again. It will determine who controls the Senate, and with it the last two years of Pres. Obamas presidency. It could mean that many more of our fellow Americans will have access to affordable health care in the states where Republican governors have refused to expand Medicaid under ObamaCare, for purely political reasons. It will also determine if we as a country want to move forward or backward.
