Devotions for Every Day Life Hallowed Be Your Name “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth . . . you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. . . . But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you” (John 14:16-17, 26, NASB). To “hallow the name” is to enter into the very heart and life of who God is, and to dwell there. It is to find our identity as loved of God there, and it is to flow with God’s very authority and power as we obey His promptings. How do we do this? Please teach me, prompt me and help me to step closer to the very heart of the Father as I learn to revere His Name! Prayer Points Praise your Father as the head over the entire family of believers (Eph. 3:14-15). Thank God for the love he lavishes on you and others as he calls you “children of God” (1 Jn. 3:1). Confess those times when you have felt comfortable in your own circle of Christian brothers and sisters and forgotten to reach out to others beyond your own “family.” Commit yourself this week to gaining at least one new brother or sister in Christ. Ask God to lead you to a person in your life who is ready to accept the gospel.
