Connie Dycus recorded his first rockabilly record in 1958 for Mercury Records. Managed by Jim Minor and Bob Cloud of Mayflower Music of Flint, Mi, Dycus got on Mercury through Jim and Bobs contacts though Shelby Singleton told Colin Escott that Dycus was some bum I got out of Arkansas In Oct. of 1957 Shelby Singleton was hired by Mercury records to be their Southern promo man. Colin Escott is a famous country music historian/author and Shelby tells him this. Well Shelby you didnt find Dycus in Arkansas. Jim and Bob were working for General Motors in Flint in 1958 as well was Dycus and they all met and Jim and Bob heard his singing and signed Dycus to their publishing company. If Shelby would have been out promoting rockabilly more than he did back then, this song might have been a hit. Mercury did very little to promote Rockabilly then. Rockabilly recorded in 1958 in the Rca Studio B. Bear Family Records audio from the Jim Minor Everest recording company master safety reel to reel. .https://youtube/watch?v=X3XYfUSufCc
