Connor is being evaluated for a cochlear implant......if it is determined by the doctors that he is a good candidate, the insurance has to approve it, and we still have to make the decision if we want to go ahead with the implant or not, that decision will be the hardest decision we have ever had to make, Connor wears hearing aids in both ears now, his left ear has profound loss, I really feel like he doesnt get much from that aid that it just makes a little noise in that ear and the audiologist agrees, his right ear has been mild to moderate but it has been getting worse, we have been told by audiologist they feel like it will be catching up with the left ear with the hearing loss, we have been told he could wake up one day and be completely deaf........being deaf is not a bad thing, we have met some awesome HOH/deaf people since we started this journey with Connor, I just really feel like he wants to hear and has his parents we want him to have the best we can give him, Connor has an MRI on Sept. 4 to look at nerve that runs to the ear, depending on what the nerve looks like is a big factor in decision for CI and to help ENT doc try to figure out all these ear infections he keeps getting, we get results from MRI on Sept 15, then go back to audiologist on Sept 24 to ask any questions we still have in helping us make our decision if he is a good candidate for CI........we are keeping everything positive, we want him to stay happy and proud of his hearing loss and his hearing aids :)
