Conservatives may not have many names at the top of the ballot to be enthusiastic about. But the solution is not to stay home this Tuesday or cast protest votes for candidates with no hope of winning. Look, Ive been following politics for 50 years. The only action that has brought any semblance of change has been working in Republican primaries for good grassroots candidates. And Im not just talking congressional races. Look further down the ballot to state legislature and local races. It is there that true change occurs. And while these down ticket races may not have the glory & power of the headline grabbers at the top, they teach valuable lessons. Too often Ive seen citizens charge headlong into candidacy with little understanding of issues, nor the mechanics of winning elections. This is why it is vital that we cut our teeth on smaller races only then moving to the big leagues. What to do? The election is less than a week away. Ill be voting Republican, knowing that friends will appear on the ballot with other party affiliations. I wish them well, but know there is no hope for conservative values winning outside of the GOP. But all is not lost. While this election will finally be decided, smart folks are staking out races that will be decided in 24 short months!
