Consider. 26th September 2014. They choked on their words as tears filled their eyes Appealing and begging in passionless guise We are gutted, heartbroken yet some tears would not fall We done all we could and gave it our all. Beds suffered nightmares, shaking with fears, But these fears for the future brought only more tears Half of this country worked hard to rule on their own They fought every minute but fought not alone With thousands of others they had belief That their grass it was greener; that the sun shone on Leith But somehow Scots rejected that one final dance When it was easier seizing that one special chance. Some hearts were broken and so were the dreams Independence eluded those positive teams. Democracy won but the lies that they spread Divided a nation but it’s still far from dead. It was thrown away but kept in reserve Those with that dream who’ll continue to serve The needs of a people, a nation, this land Must stay together and make a free stand. Every leaf that you see is a flag that is flying A St Andrew’s Cross with a Red Rampant Lion Blowing in a wind with our ghosts from the past Shaking our hands for a moment that lasts. Breathing the air on the paths that we breathe In this land that we love that we all have to leave. The beacons were lit but the fires weren’t ours They descended on Glasgow in less than twelve hours. These were our Scotsmen, the ones who said No The ones who brought shame to their victory show They destroyed Glasgow’s name and our country disgraced As a worldwide audience saw our city defaced. These violent bigots with their Nazi salutes They don’t speak for me, of that there’s no dispute. A girl on her knees clutches at her Scottish flag But it’s ripped from her grasp as her young body sags They’re burning our Saltires, torching our town Marching and kicking folk to the ground. It was covered by Twitter, facebook et al But our own BBC covered nothing at all. With Friday night revellers out for a good time Their pathways were crossed with a regime of crime. And what of The Vow from Westminster’s three The Vow that came through like a panicking plea No content, no powers, just a blank page with dates If Heaven won’t help us then it’s Hell that awaits. One single agreement is NOT all that we ask But to agree on just ONE seems an impossible task And within twenty four hours, it seemed you had reneged For along with your partners, on this you’ll be gauged. Cameron’s mouthing to the ex mayor of New York Swanning around, acting like some young dork He spoke of the queen and how she likes to purr A political blemish on a Westminster slur. With tongue firmly in cheek he says he’s suing the polls And the ulcer he spoke of may be taking its toll. Our minds are just prisons where we’re locked up through fear Where stopping escape are thoughts more austere And the oil, once scarce, now will last a hundred years Miraculously they found it all, allaying all our fears. But for now we all go to war but will this one ever end? That depends on what the oilmen say, the US government and friends! Did they dream up Al quaeda and this new Islamic State? It’ll last as long as oil’s found there, that’s not too long to wait! And conscription will come to your sons, from sixteen to twenty five And there’s no guarantee in war, that they’ll come back alive. And wars that we’re involved in, where the mercenaries descend Are all concocted for their money but money has no friends! How many places do we bomb where oil does not exist? We only bomb for riches or is there something I have missed? Work ‘til your seventy with your pension decreased But by the time you can lift it, you could be deceased And your winter chills will turn ice cold with your fuel assistance banned And once fracking starts, beware my friends, you will not know your land. Now fracking that’s another tale and this is chapter one And the instigators all have shares, we’re the ones being done! England’s green and pleasant land and the valleys down in Wales The Highlands, The Lowlands, The Lakes, The Dales The scenic spots within this land will be drilled for gas, oil and shale These bastards have no love of life and should all be put in jail. Three hundred feet below the ground and underneath your house Their horizontal drills rotate, they’ll be quiet as a mouse But they’ll poison your spring waters and kill off all your feed Not in the name of progress but in the name of greed From John O’Groats to Lands End, there’ll be six hundred chemicals spilled To poison all our water with your fauna, flora killed. They don’t even ask permission and it’s us they’re meant to serve If we say nothing to them, we get what we deserve! And bless the good old NHS, it was safe last week they claimed But Labour want to save it now and guess who’s getting blamed? Will England vote for Independence, I will leave that up to friends For I will take no part in this but will watch what Twitter trends Why shouldn’t a country rule itself, stand on its own two feet We like independence in ourselves so it’s progression not a feat And to think we would be enemies just because we self rule Yes, they would have us all believe we’re all from the same school But we all differ as people and as such have different needs Devolved or Independent, different colours, different creeds A multitude of viewpoints must be considered if there’s a vote And from the 1920’s I leave you with this quote: Give me control of a nation’s money supply, and I care not who makes its laws – Mayer Amschel Rothschild. Paul Colvin.
