Consider for a moment the catastrophic events that we are - TopicsExpress

Consider for a moment the catastrophic events that we are contending with on an everyday basis. What do these things mean to you? Is it in your opinion just events that are unfolding because they must? Is it bringing to your consciousness the veracity of the scriptures and the prophetic messages that have been given over the ages? I would like to suggest that we look at these events, not just from the perspective that this is evidence of social chaos but from the perspective that these are events that definitely provide unmitigated evidence that the end is at hand. Have you looked at the news in the last week? Malaysian airplane shut down with almost 300 lives lost. Think about the many hundreds or thousands of lives that will be forever affected by this senseless tragedy. Israel and Hamas in a perpetual conflict and even in the presence of a signed agreement for a ceasefire, there continues to be the shooting of missiles that are destroying the lives of innocent citizens. A pregnant woman was jailed and sentenced to death by the Court since she recanted her religious upbringing to marry a Christian. Thank God that through social action she was eventually freed. But to be sentenced to hang for accepting Jesus!!! Murders continue at an unprecedented rate in spite of politicians promising that crime will be a thing of the past. How do we even begin to make sense of the current state of things around us? This is what Jesus Himself said in Luke 21:7-19 “7“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?” 8He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. 9When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.” 10Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. 12“But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. 13And so you will bear testimony to me. 14But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17Everyone will hate you because of me. 18But not a hair of your head will perish. 19Stand firm, and you will win life” Friends; this is not a time to lose hope but stand on the veracity of the Word of God. Indeed our God can be trusted because thousands of years before these experiences were evident he predicted with unparalleled accuracy. Just in case you are looking for things to get better let me remind you that no such thing will happen. In fact, things will grow progressively worse. But even in the midst of these crises we can have confidence that our God has promised in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. Friends; today I encourage you to trust god in spite of situations for nothing takes Him by surprise. Let us commit ourselves to live for Jesus come what may so that even if we are caught in the maelstrom it will be well with our souls. Thank you Jesus!!!
