Consider this one a PSA on shipping, if you have any questions feel free to PM me. Ive seen it too often where items have shown up rattling around in a box, or gun cases just thrown in a bubble wrap envelope and sent out. Luckily Canada Post has been good about it and Ive yet to receive anything damaged but there is really no reason to take a chance. However heres some good advice for everyone and info on where you can get packaging materials since it can often be a pain. -Always use a box for shipping a gun, even if it has a case, a bubble wrap envelope ultimately offers pretty much zero protection. -Always use packaging material, avoid using newsprint on exposed aluminum since the ink can transfer onto items. -Try to use enough packaging material so that items cannot move inside that package, at the very least not hit the edges of the box. -Extra tape is always good, tape is cheap, throw a few extra strips on -The red Fragile stickers are given free at Canada Post outlets, just ask for one and theyll put it on for you. ------------------------------------- Obtaining packing materials Finding the right box can often be a pain, Canada Post will have just about any size youd need but their boxes are by no means cheap. Some good places to get boxes are; -Staples, they sell boxes and are a bit cheaper than Canada Post -The stores attached to Canada Post outlets are often willing to give you boxes they receive stock in and often have various sizes. Often if you ask theyll let you know when they receive stock and may set some boxes aside for you. -Bubble wrap can be bought in very large rolls at Wal-Mart or UPS stores -For large quantities of anything uline.ca is likely your best bet, for those in the GTA their warehouse is located in Brampton. One additional note, getting the smallest possible size of a box to fit an item isnt actually going to do much to save you on shipping costs, so if your box is a bit oversized it really doesnt matter. Just be sure to fill up that void in the box to the item doesnt get knocked around. Shipping cost is more determined by weight and distance traveled.
