Considering there is a yin and yang to life, let me provide some better news in comparison to what everyone has been talking about. JOB UPDATE: I have been at my job for just over three months now and It keeps getting better and better. Diamond Bar has been my home base since before the 4th of July and I have been able to catch on to the responsibilities of a Permit Technician pretty well. I know that part of the job so well now, I have been helping to train a few people so they can help fill in for myself, or the other Permit Tech if we need some time off. Over the past week I have started the next phase of my training and I am taking on the Code Enforcement responsibilities for the Building and Safety department as well. Ive spent this time reorganizing the code case files and getting familiarized enough with them so I can start following up on the cases that have been ignored by the previous guy who was doing my job. Along with all of this, my boss has signed me up for some continuing education classes this month and also in September and October. As time goes on in this job, I am going to train as a Building Inspector and Plans Examiner too. My boss has told me that there are not too many people in this field who are trained in the four areas that I am going to be trained for. Overall, it feels really good to finally have a career where my hard work and talents are appreciated and not taken for granted. If anyone is in the Diamond Bar area, stop by City Hall and say hi.
