Consignors, ever wonder what the receiving inspectors are thinking - TopicsExpress

Consignors, ever wonder what the receiving inspectors are thinking when your items come to their table? With 1 week until receiving one of our receiving inspectors took a few minutes to give her point of view. Receiving from an Inspector’s Point of View Hello Consignor, I’m so glad you’re here. No, I really am! It’s you, the consignor, who makes this business what it is and without you there would be no Classy Kids so as an Inspector I am quite happy to see you. However, I’d like to pass on a few tips to make receiving easier on all of us. 1. I’m happy to see you which means I am not judging you by the items you bring in. Whatever they are doesn’t change my opinion of you as a person. 2. As I check in your items I am looking for: rips, stains, tears in the clothing, whether or not your items works with batteries or when plugged in, if your item is expired or recalled, if your book is in good shape or not, if your item is the right season for the sale, if your DVD/CD looks scratched, etc. Believe me, we have a whole list. But listen, it’s not just your items! We are checking everybody’s so that the sale can be the best it can be with the best items out to sell. 3. Which leads me to: we are human! We miss stuff ALL the time – we’re not trying to but we do miss things so it is entirely possible that you saw something on the rack with a spot or stain or other issue and we are truly sorry for that. In the future, if you see an item we missed feel free to bring it to our attention and we will remove it from the sale that way it truly is fair to everyone. 4. Similar to #1 – if we find a spot, stain, etc. on one of your items we don’t think any less of you. We also have kids who are messy and spill stuff and tear stuff, so we don’t think you are a horrible person because your clothes have a spot or two on them. 5. That being said do check your items in advance, PLEASE!! We know you miss things just like we do but the more you look over your stuff the easier our job is and the faster it goes. 6. Which leads me to: we are going as fast as we can. I promise we are. But we are also taking our time to get it right and to make as few mistakes as possible so if you wouldn’t mind being patient that would be wonderful. We will get to you as soon as we can. 7. Read the rules on the website before you come. It only takes a few minutes and probably answers all the questions you have. In the same vein, have your clothes hung and tagged and ready to go before you come. Have your items tagged and ready though NOT sealed as will need to check them before we can seal them. Everything you have ready to go before you arrive means the check-in process will go that much faster. 8. We love to chat. A lot of us have been standing for hours checking items and having a fun conversation makes the day a lot more pleasant so feel free to talk to us if you’d like. If not, that’s okay too. 9. If we say “No Thank You “ to an item and you want to know why please ask and we will be happy to tell you. If you’d like a second opinion we can get that too. We have been known to think something is there when it’s not! 10. We’d love to see you as early in our shift as possible. We know many of you work, have families and lots of crazy schedules but the earlier you arrive the faster we get everyone checked and their items out and the faster we can get the whole sale together and ready for you to come back and shop which we know is what you really want to do anyway! 11. Putting your items out on the floor is a huge help to everyone. If you don’t know where it goes feel free to ask and we’d be happy to help. Our hope is that your time with us is pleasant whether you are checking-in clothes, making purchases, picking up items or receiving your check. Thank you so much for consigning and shopping at Classy Kids!
