Consistency has paid off for the crew aboard Toucan as they claimed back to back wins in the Colac Yacht Club Pennant Handicap series for season 2013-2014 in the Trailable Division. With only a small fleet travelling to Camperdowns lake Bullen Merri each Saturday, skipper Bryan Cuthbertson and crew continued on from the previous year , showing the rest of the fleet a clean keel. Numbers in this division have dwindled due to boats being sold but this has also resulted in close racing. The final result came down to the last race of the year, proving you have to sail each week to have a chance of winning the pennant. Ian Lane and Daryl Langdons This Way Up again proved they are the boat to beat in the Scratch Series. however next year the club is expecting a new sports boat to join the fleet in the Trailable Division. Called Demons at the Snow it is rated super quick by owner / builder Grant, yet the syndicate finance manager has stated it will be the year 2020 before funds will be available for it to be launched. Due to insufficient races being sailed in the Cats Division there was no Pennant Series. The AGM will be held on May 16th at 8PM at the club house, so please make an effort to attend. If you are keen to join the club there are some crew positions available on the Trailable boats or if you have your own yacht we would love to have you join us on the water.
