Construction You are here crumb trail indicator Home You are here seperator First Aid At Work You are here seperator Construction By its nature the Construction Industry is inherently high hazard as defined by the First Aid Regulations. There are many hazards to be faced on building sites and The most common hazards are similar to other work places but many of these hazards are accentuated by the nature of construction. The First Aid Regulations are about providing first aid cover and we are not trying to outline the Health and Safety aspects here but give you pointers to first aid provision. As with all First Aid the need to do a First Aid Assessment on construction sites is important. Particularly in the construction industry, but not exclusive to it, is Employees working on shared or multi occupied sites and the First Aid Regulations state; 3.25 On a shared or multi-occupied site, employers can arrange for one employer to take responsibility for providing first-aid cover for all the workers. In these cases, a full exchange of information about the hazards and risks involved should help ensure that the shared provision is adequate. All employees should agree the arrangements and employees should be kept informed. A written agreement between employers is strongly recommended to avoid misunderstandings. 3.26 Where an employment business contracts out employees to another employer, the employment business should ensure, by arrangement with the user employer, that these employees have access to first aid provision. The Approved Code of Practice L74 states that a First Aid Room should be considered on large construction sites and they provide guidance at to what should be provided and what a First Aid Room should be and should contain.
