Constructive Act # 278 - “RELEASE AND RESUME” – Yesterday I - TopicsExpress

Constructive Act # 278 - “RELEASE AND RESUME” – Yesterday I got quite a bit of “stuff” off of my chest and I will admit it felt good. As a Counselor for 25 years, I know one of the most important skills to have is that of validation. People have feelings, just like I did, and they can’t help the way they feel – all they are looking for is a little validation. Validation is just acknowledgment…..Okay – I hear you! You guys heard me loud and clear yesterday and although it was not pretty…..you allowed me my feelings and you embraced me as a human being. Thank you! I’m in a much better place today because I had the opportunity to RELEASE my feelings and my emotions. Now it’s time to RESUME my life. Today, I guess I’m writing for myself as much as anyone else out there. Life is full of ups and downs regardless of your circumstances. The ability to move on is a gift of sorts. Some people don’t have that ability and things that happen can put them into a deep dark depression and leave them there for unknown lengths of time. I thank God everyday that I am not one of those people….that to me would be a death sentence on earth. I know there are people out there who suffer from depression and many of them are ones who search for some substance to bring them back to a happier place. I know if I were depressed, I would be searching for something to help me – no doubt! If you are one of those people, don’t be ashamed to reach out to the medical community and discuss ways to keep yourself in a better place. I know the place I was on Sunday was not somewhere I would have wanted to remain for any length of time. I struggled with sleep on Sunday night just because of all the negativity in my day on Sunday, then on Monday, I just kind of went through the motions of the day. Today, I am energetic and looking forward to Christmas Eve night when we “Light the Way for HOPE.” Doing things to help and validate others makes me come alive! God calls us to serve and by doing so, I can connect with Him and hopefully strengthen others in the process. It’s a win-win situation! I’m also in a creative mood today and I love to do crafty things – it’s one of the outlets that I have spoken about in the past. Sometimes, getting yourself back on track takes a little effort on your part. We have to be responsible and accountable for our own sanity and attitudes. This becomes extremely important and pertinent when you are an “addict’s keeper.” You cannot let them dictate your personality. You have to remember that they are suffering with a disease and it’s NOT personal. Especially at Christmastime, when you want to celebrate, allow yourselves to be happy and try to experience the joy of the season. If you do have one of “those” days, do everything in your power to get yourself back on track as soon as possible. Doing something for others is one of the quickest and most powerful ways to get back on track! Speaking of doing something for others….. PLEASE Plan to come out and join the Davis Direction Foundation as we “Light the Way for HOPE” this Christmas Eve at the Park on Polk Street right behind the Marietta First United Methodist Church. We will have a pathway lit around the entire park with 1,000 luminary lights, carolers along the way, scripture readers, a beautifully simple Nativity scene and the word HOPE illuminated from the hill. The rain is GOING to be GONE by Christmas Eve night when we light up – 8:30 pm and we will still be illuminated until 10:00 p.m. There will be guitar playing, carols on the piano and hot apple cider served with mini muffins. For those in need, we will be handing out blankets, hats, scarves, gloves and a bag full of survival items. PLEASE share this event on your page and let others know of the event. I will post a flyer again with the details a little later in the day that you can share on your personal FB pages. It is designed to be a spiritual experience where you can come to feel God’s presence. I envision the sky opening up right at 8:30 so that the stars can shine upon our event – because after all “Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pour through and shine down on us to let us know they are happy.” Feel free to bring a picture of your lost ones to place on the tables at the beginning of the path and light a candle for them as you walk the path in their honor. Find your own meaning this season. Allow God to heal the wounds and lessen the holes in our hearts. Cast the questions aside for just one night, and know that God is in control and that he is omnipotent….all knowing! For me, that will be enough! Please join us – You will leave with a renewed spirit having the opportunity to RELEASE your emotions and the ability to RESUME your life. God Bless you all.
