Consul General Appointed to People’s Republic of China Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, His Excellency Dr. Rodney Williams on Friday, on instructions from Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne, issued the Instrument of Appointment to Mr. Adrian Kenworthy, making him the country’s Consul General in the People’s Republic of China. Recently, Prime Minister Browne announced that his government will appoint individuals to diplomatic positions around the world with the sole intention of them contributing positively to making Antigua and Barbuda an economic power-house within the region. Prime Minister Browne noted that he is confident that with Kenworthy’s track record in business that Antigua and Barbuda will forge stronger business ties with companies within the People’s Republic of China. “He brings a wealth of experience to the position, so we are anticipating great things from him and stronger relations with our most significant development partner,” he noted. “With over 25 years experience in the Peoples Republic of China, in both private and public capacities, I look forward to promoting Antiguan and Barbudan; Industry, Trade, Tourism and Investment sectors between our two nations. There are many up and coming opportunities across these sectors in both countries and I look forward to working with Ambassador Stuart-Young in bringing these opportunities to life,” Consul General Kenworthy noted. Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister the Hon. Charles Fernandez, welcomed Kenworthy, who has Canadian and Antiguan and Barbuda citizenship to the team and noted that his appointment signals a new thrust forward in the relations between Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China. “His appointment is expected to produce tangible benefits to our country with him building on the excellent relations that exist between our two countries,” he said. The Antigua and Barbuda office will be located in China’s capital city Beijing.
