Consumer attitudes to the housing market improved sharply in June, - TopicsExpress

Consumer attitudes to the housing market improved sharply in June, according to the Westpac-Melbourne Institute Consumer Sentiment Index. The Time to Buy section of the index rose 11.4% from May to June, the first improvement in seven months. Consumer sentiment overall has stabilised since the pessimistic result after the Federal Budget in May. The Consumer Sentiment Index overall rose 0.3% in June from 92.9 in May to 93.2 in June. But Westpac senior economist Matthew Hassan says the Index is still in firmly pessimistic territory, down 6.6% from its pre-Budget level in April and 15.6% below the post-election high in November last year.
