Statewide, Lawyers Fighting Hunger raised more than $70,000 for the purpose of purchasing turkeys to giveaway to families in Oklahoma City, Norman, El Reno, Mustang and Tulsa who are struggling with hunger this holiday season. “Thanks to more than 60 different law firms throughout the state, in addition to contributions from local businesses and the Oklahoma City Fire Department Local 157, we successfully raised more than $70,000 to purchase turkeys and food boxes for Oklahomans across the state,” said Oklahoma City Attorney Noble McIntyre. “In addition to Oklahoma City, Norman, El Reno, and Tulsa, we are happy to report a fifth distribution in Mustang this year. We will provide free hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks to all that come to a distribution location where we will give away over 5,000 turkeys. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to again serve Oklahomans.” The turkeys will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis at the following locations: November 20th Oklahoma City McIntyre Law Offices 8601 S. Western Ave. November 21st Norman Bernstein Law Office 104 W. Gray Street November 22nd El Reno El Reno Fire Department 2707 Faith Ave. November 25th Tulsa The Vault 620S. Cincinnati November 25th Mustang Mustang Fire Department 465 West SH 152 Registration at Oklahoma City, Norman and Mustang will begin at 11a.m. with turkey distribution from noon until 2:00 p.m. Registration at El Reno begins at 9:30 a.m. and in Tulsa at 5:30 p.m. One turkey will be given away per family until all turkeys are gone. There will also be free hamburgers, hot dogs, bottled water and sodas served at the events to everyone in attendance. “Once again, I want to thank the attorneys, chiropractors and others for donating money to help the less fortunate enjoy a great Thanksgiving” said Norman Attorney David Bernstein. “I also want to thank the Regional Oklahoma Food Bank, the Oklahoma City and Norman Police Departments, the Norman Fire Department, the United States Air Force and Classic 50s Drive In, and all of the volunteers that help make this great event giving back to the community possible.” One in six Oklahomans struggles with hunger every day. “The majority of those served by the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma are children, seniors living on fixed incomes and working families,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “These turkeys will provide a valuable source of protein that is often sacrificed when Oklahomans have to choose between paying rent, utilities or buying food.” For more information about Lawyers Fighting Hunger visit lawyersagainsthunger.
