NAMADWAAR TEAM AND OUR SWAMIJI WISHES ALL OUR FRIENDS HAPPY VARAMAHALAKSHMI SIGNIFICANCE OF VARAMAHALAKSHMI WORSHIP.... Varamahalakshmi is a day dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. It is said that those who perform this Vratam (religious practice to carry out certain obligations with a view to achieve divine blessing) will be blessed with wealth, prosperity and good health. Goddess Lakshmi is the deity of wealth and prosperity as per Hinduism. Lakshmi is worshipped in 8 superior forms that represent 8 types of wealth. You need different types of wealth and resources to be rich in a real sense. Physical, financial, spiritual and material wealth are all needed to complete life’s various needs. The 8 forms of Lakshmi or Ashtalakshmi are – Aadi Lakshmi, Dhaanya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santaana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vidhya Lakshmi & Dhana Lakshmi. The Ashta Lakshmi indicates the 8 supreme forms of wealth – Wealth of endless Prosperity, Food / Grains, Patience / Strength , Vehicle, Children, Victory / Perseverance / Courage / Confidence, Education & Money and finally Wisdom. Lord Shiva explained to Goddess Parvathi that the only Vratha which gives the devotee the 8 types of wealth. As per the scriptures, Varalakshmi is the Goddess to grant boons to her devotees without hesitation. Who performs the Varalakshmi Pooja with devotion and dedication will be blessed She is worshipped for healthy progeny, long life of the husband. Vrata is observed on a Friday that falls before the full Moon day of the month of Shravanamasa (August - September). The Vrata is as follows - early in the morning women after taking bath, make a rangoli on the place where the kalasha is placed. They draw a lotus with 8 petals. The sacred Kalasha (brass/copper/silver) is filled with rice and topped with fresh mango leaves, a coconut and cloth are placed on the mandala and Lakshmi is invoked. Goddess is invoked by decorating the Kalasha with flowers, jewelery, vastra (new clothes – saree) fruits, dry fruits, fresh grains, sweets and savories. Some place coins, or rupee notes or make a garland of notes. The Vrata is performed with the beginning of Puja to Lord Ganesha. Then the main worship of Varamahalakshmi begins In the evening, women dress in their best and tamboola is given to other married women who are invited to the house. The woman who perform the puja observe a fast on that day, eating only certain items. The following day the holy water in the kalasha is sprinkled throughout the house. If rice has been used in the place of water then it is mixed with the rice stored in the house. !!!
