Contest Statute The IInd V.S. Antonov International Competition of Woodwind Instruments Performers Nominations – Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone February 2-10, 2014 1.Participation Terms And Conditions Of The Competition: - the Competition is carried out in three nominations: Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone; - participation in the Competition is allowed to performers irrespectively of their citizenship, born between February 2, 1986, and February 2, 1996; - the Competition has 4 stages: the Elimination Round is realized according to documents and video tapes, the І and the ІІ Rounds are solo programme performing; the III Round is performance accompanied by the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic Ukraine; - elimination according to video tapes will take place in Kyiv in October, 2013. According to the results of the Elimination Round the Board elects the participants of the I Round of the Competition and sends them invitations before November 1, 2013. The list of the participants admitted to the participation in the Competition will be posted on the Contest web-site.: festmusic.ua on the 25th of October, 2013; - at the Elimination Round any compositions of the I and the II Rounds with time length up to 20 minutes are performed; - at the Draw the participants choose accidental performance order number; - all the participants that have received the invitations are obliged to inform the Board before January 15, 2014, about their exact date and time of arrival to the Competition. Without this information they will not be included to the list of the I Round participants; - the Competition auditions are open; the Elimination, the I – II Rounds are performed from sheet music, the III Round is performed by heart; - not more than 50% of participants in each nomination (Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone) are admitted to the participation in the II Round; - not more than 4 finalists in each nomination (Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone) are admitted to the participation in the III Round; - winners of the Competition are obliged to perform at the final concert. In case of denial to perform the Competition Jury has the right to cancel the Prize and the Diploma. - the Board does not provide the participants with medical insurance; - all the expenses that refer to the participation in the Competition are defrayed by the participants or by Sending Party. Housing conditions will be announced on the web-site; - foreign participants are personally reliable for passports and visas execution. Consultations regarding these issues can be given in the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Ukraine; - if official invitation is required each participant should indicate the recipient address; - the Board of the Competition can provide the participants with an accompanist if needed. It should be indicated in the Application Form (payment is negotiated). Entrance fee for participation in the Competition is USD $100 without bank charges 2. Documents: The Board elects the participants of the Elimination Round according to the following documents received from the contenders: 1. Video tape of the I-ІІ Round programme (you can attach the video tape to the letter or indicate a link to it); performing time length is up to 20 minutes; video tape should be recorded not earlier than 2013. 2. Application Form in a set form. 3. Scanned or photo copy of Passport and Identifier code (for Ukrainian participants). 4. Photo (half-length, vertical) taken not earlier than 2013 (printed in the booklet in black and white). 5. Along with the Application Form a photocopy (or a scanned copy) of the receipt of entrance fee payment in USD $50 or in the equivalent sum in Ukrainian national currency at the NBU rate at the moment of payment paid on the bank account is sent to: Dear participants! Pay attention to the bank charges. The Entrance fee doesn’t have to be affected by the bank charges. The payment is made only in Ukrainian national currency at the NBU rate at the moment of payment. Photo or scanned copies of the Application Form and all the listed documents shall be sent in one letter by e-mail: [email protected] - the deadline of the receipt of documents for the Elimination Round is October 1, 2013; - documents sent later than the deadline or not in a full content will not be considered; - the Board of the Contest is not responsible for the loss of documents during delivering; - documents and video tapes sent to the Competition are the V.S.Antonov Competition’s property. 3. Contest Schedule Kyiv House of Scientists. 45-a, Volodymyrska str., Kyiv. February 2, 2014, 9:00 - 16:00 – Registration. February 2, 2014, 10:00 - 18:00 – Acoustic rehearsals. 19:00 – the Opening of the Competition and the Draw. February 3-4, 2014, 10:00 - 20:00 –the I Round Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone. February 5, 2014 – Master-classes. February 6-7, 2014, 10:00 - 20:00 – the II Round Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone. National Philharmonic of Ukraine. 2, Volodymyrkyi Descent (Uzviz), Kyiv. February 8, 2014, 10:00 - 16:00 – rehearsals with the orchestra. 16:00 - 22:00 – the III Round Oboe and Bassoon (Competition auditions accompanied by the National Philarmonic of Ukraine Academic Symphony Orchestra and Kyiv Camerata National Soloists Ensemble). February 9, 2014, 10:00 - 13:00 – rehearsals with the orchestra. 19:00 - 22:00 – the III Round Saxophone (Competition auditions accompanied by the National Philarmonic of Ukraine Academic Symphony Orchestra). February 10, 2013, 19:00 – Grand Award Ceremony and Final Concert of the Competition winners. 4. The Board and the Jury - the Competition Jury acts according to the “Statute on Jury”; - the Jury membership is common for three nominations; - evaluation of participants’ performances at all the Rounds is realized through secret voting; - the Jury has the right to stop the performance in case it goes beyond the Competition requirements and fixed time limit; - the decisions of the Jury of the Competition at all its stages is final and is not subject to discussion, reconsideration, or appeal; - the Board reserves the exclusive right for all kinds of audio-, video-tapes of the Competition performances, they are the property of the Volodymyr Antonov Competition. The Board does not provide the participants with the rewards on the usage of the Competition materials; - the Board has the exclusive right to enter into agreements with other Parties with the aim of advertizing and selling above-mentioned materials. 5. Awards: Each nomination (Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone) has individual prize fund from which the following prizes are paid: I Prize - USD $3000, laureate title; II Prize – USD $2000, laureate title; III Prize – USD $1000, laureate title; The rest of the finalists are awarded with the Competition Diploma Winner Title. Only one performer from the three nominations is awarded with the special prize in the nomination for The Best Performance of Ukrainian Composer’s Piece. Additional sponsor prizes are possible. Depending on achieved results of the participants and within set prize limit the Jury has the right: - to award not all the prizes; - to share the prizes (but the first) among the performers (the sum of the award is paid in full amount). The Competition Winners’ Prizes are paid in Ukrainian national currency at the National Bank of Ukraine rate that is valid at the moment of making decision on awarding. Herewith income tax is withheld and transferred to the budget in order and amount set in the Tax Code of Ukraine. Participant’s Application Form is a consent to the above-mentioned terms and conditions of the Competition.
