Context, context, context. Its quite possibly the most important thing in understanding absolutely anything. You can NOT make a statement about anything without understanding the context first. I get so tired of people misquoting holy books, and - for instance - I see it constantly happen from the extreme right. So many people take the Quran out of context, and its so incredibly infuriating. Theyre just regurgitating what some hatemonger said on the internet or television, without a second thought. I shouldnt have to defend Islam, nor should I have to defend Muslims! It should be a non-issue. But no, people insist on demonizing the people and their beliefs. And because I have a conscience, I cant stand idly by while it goes on. It seriously needs to end. You have no foundation to stand on with your accusations - you lack the context needed to make educated statements! But no, instead I get told that *I* am an idiot. That *I* dont know what Im talking about. Right. Because I havent read the Quran or anything. Because I havent studied religion or anything. Well *I* dont just repeat what someone else says, without studying it from multiple points of views. Those who spout hatred narrow your perspective; widen it a little, and think for yourself. I really needed to vent that. This keeps building up every time I see someone attack Islam with their words. Youd think people would have grown up by now.
