Continuation.... Our final day in Singapore was a relaxing day with light breakfast at home as i told Zaleha we want to save our tummy for Hjh Maimunah. Its a famous restaurant in Geyland serving local dishes to die for. They have a smaller branch at Jalan Pisang near Arab Street. The last time i was with my family we spend 2 consecutive days having breakfast at Geylang market stalls which were just superb . Off course we dont know much about other restaurants as we dont have our local guides.Hi hi hi But this time around Achmad & Zaleha had plans for us everyday. I had to give a miss this time eating at the market. But off course i was so pleased and contented trying out at Hjh Maimunah.It was not the first time for Hanim though but she was still looking forward to have lunch there. We came early to avoid the long queue as it was a sunday . Told them not to order much but in the end we had more than 10 dishes on the table. Grilled siakap with the best sambal kicap, even better than the ones i tried in Indonesia. Ha ha ha. Assam pedas tenggiri, lemak siput sedut, lemak puck ubi, lemak ikan with nenas, i specially requested for this because they really looked so yummy, Then urap taugeh, sambal pengantin, sambal tempe, sambal belacan and some raw salads and and and off course Tahu Telor Jakarta. Hasnah reminded me, Ibu, mesti cuba itu tahu yang sebesar muka . You must try the tofu which is as big as our face. I was laughing with her description of the dish. While eating we had to keep passing the dishes as there was not enough space for all . Masyaallah, one of the best meal i ever had. The tahu was the best, the black sauce was just superb. The lemak ikan with pineapple and i even had 11 siput sedut which i always fail to eat back home. At Hjh Maimunah they trimmed the end well so it was easy to suck out the siput without making much noise. In the end the plates of 10 or more dishes were wiped cleaned. I was looking at Hanim and told her we must bring my family back here and also my friends too. They have lovely dessert mostly traditional kueh like Tepong Komak, Kueh talam labu, lepat ubi, ketuk uni, tapai, bubur pulut hitam, kueh som som and all kinds but we didnt take much . But their koci wasnt that good. No one can bit the kueh Koci from Sri Menanti or Kuala Pilah. To Achmad & Zaleha, syukran jazillan one more time and Barakallahufikum. Again we were not allowed to pay for anything. Its supposed to be just free air ticket and free entrance to Universal studios but everything from the taxi fares to lunches, dinners and even sambal belachan from Hjh Maimunah. Zaleha is so quick and alert. I was talking to Hanim i want to bring home their sambal belachan. So when we got down i picked 2 bottles for us and Zaleha grabbed from me and said she already got them for us. Masyaallah. She left us no chance to spend our money. Then we walked across to Joo Chiat complex and thinking we will not shop for anything , just look see look see . But we end up buying quite a bit of stuff and it reminded me of the good old days when i used to frequent Singapore especially Woodlands with my late mother in law buying household items, grocery and the delicious food in Singapore. Some items are still cheap here even after the conversion. So Jom Jom Jalan Jalan and Makan Makan di Singapura. Calling my friends in the jemaah and my school mates college mates. I can arrange 3 separate occasions, no worries. hi hi hi To be continued
