Continue this day our short lessons on the theme The Holy Spirit (THS) in the Gospel of Grace Part3. SARAH AND HAGAR REPRESENTS TWO COVENANTS THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY OPPOSED TO ONE ANOTHER, THE COVENANT OF GRACE AND THE COVENANT OF WORKS. We will start today and see were The Holy Spirit fits into this! There is a very intense relationship between the Spirit of God and the grace of God. Please follow me today to the Old.T book of Zechariah chapter 4,starting in verse 6and7 were we can see a delightful connection between The Spirit of God and grace! Take a look at verse 6 to start with in NKJV Zechariah 4:6 So he answered and said to me: This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, Says the LORD of hosts. What does it mean “not by might not by power”? It describes our own human strength, me and us trying to get things done in our own effort. We have to read this verse in the Message Bible stating; Zechariah 4:6 (MSG) 6 This is GODs Message to Zerubbabel: You cant force these things. They only come about through my Spirit, says GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies. To force things to come about in our lives is very common and how many times me my self-have become a victim to my flesh in this regard I cannot tell! That is what also happen to our great faith father Abraham. He had the promise of a son, but still in an inpatient, way he messed it all up with Hagar (like the message we heard the man of God Åge Åleskjær speak about last Sunday January 25 at Credo Church)! We know that Hagar, Sarah’s handmaid and servant, represents the covenant of law, works and flesh. God told Zerubbabel by the prophet “you can’t force these things” That was the case with Abraham as well, and with me/us so many times, we try “a Hagar” representing the Law (own efforts) instead of our Sarah, representing Grace (trusting, believing God)! God resist the proud but assist the humble! Pride is to try making Gods promise come to pass by your own effort, humility is saying; Father I ask for help! Lord, I need you! Holy Spirit be my helper in this situation! Lord, help and teach me to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh!
