Continuing his dominance in the cycling arena of the State, Muhammad Akber of Government Physical College Ganderbal retained the TCI 3rd Kashmir Cycling Challenge title held from Duck Park, Fore Shore Road to Zaberwan Park, here, on Saturday. The third of its kind event organized by J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) and sponsored by Tramboo Cement Industry was flagged off by Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr G N Qasba and in it around 430 cyclists from all over Kashmir participated in three categories of senior, junior and sub-junior. The main competition was in senior category with almost all the top cyclists of State competing against each other. Akber who has been dominating cycling arena lately cruised to victory by clocking speed of 65.7 kilometers with the timing of 16.42.10 minutes. It was third title for the Akber within gap of last 30-days. He recently won Inter-College race for 4th consecutive time and also Tourism race. Ghulam Rasool Kawa of New Convent School finished second with the timing 16.49.45 minutes. Umer Nabi of Khyber Group finished third with the timing of 16.52.12 while as Umer Bashir of Shalimar Sporting Club finished fourth. In junior category, Amir Ahad of Shalimar Higher Secondary School finished first with the timing of 16.52.15 while as Amir Gujree of and Mansoor Ahmad Gujree both of Chinar Cycling Club finished second and third respectively. In sub-junior category which was introduced for the first time in the event, Raashid of Kashmir Harvard finished first with the timing of 16.58.12 while as Mubashir and Mansoor Hussain of Scholars School finished second and third respectively. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes among the winners at a prize distribution function held at Nun Kun Park. Among others present on the occasion were Director Magpie Hydel Constructions Pvt Ltd, Mir Mudasir, President Travel Agents Association of Kashmir, Rouf Tramboo, Physical director Islamia College, Altaf-ur-Rehman, Kashmir University Gymnasium Coach, Sheikh Adil and others. On the occasion, Mir Mudasir on behalf of Magpie distributed track suits among the winners of each category
