Continuing my review of the Golden Decade of Music 1965-1974, where I am selecting the artists alphabetically and playing selections of their songs I liked or found influential from that Golden Decade. I am now moving into the D’s and on to the next artist, The Doors, an American band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, consisting of Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger. The Doors released eight albums between 1967 and 1971. All but one hit the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and went platinum or better. Although the Doors active career ended in 1973, their popularity has persisted; according to the RIAA, they have sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. The Doors make the Rolling Stone list of the greatest artists of all time, which ranked them #41 on its list. The next song I am selecting from The Doors is Love Me Two Times, a song written by the band with the lyrics written by Robby Krieger. According to band members, the song was about a military serviceman on his last day with his girlfriend before shipping out to Vietnam. The first appeared on their 2nd album, ‘Strange Days’. It was released as the second single from that album, and reached number 25 on Billboard’s Hot 100. https://youtube/watch?v=RbMS0BzOMV0
